Swimming Pool and Spa Operators Certification Course
To ensure safety and cleanliness at all aquatic facilities, a certified pool operator must ensure that any facility open to the public meets all standards set by the local health department, or Agency Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). While standards and requirements differ depending on the AHJ, most aquatic facilities open to the public must have a certified pool operator on duty during all hours of operation. The operator is legally responsible for ensuring that the facility is safe and presents no risk to patrons. Through the certification process, our courses ensure that participants learn and are ready to apply all the relevant chemical, safety, health and mechanical knowledge necessary for maintaining and operating safe aquatic facilities. At the culmination of the course and exam, participants will be issued a Pool and Spa Operator Certification Card which is valid for three years.
All courses offered by APD Aquatics Instruction LLC were developed in accordance with the Model Aquatics Health Code and are fully approved and recognized by the Fairfax County, Prince William County, Loudoun County and DC health departments. While Arlington County does not require operators to obtain certification, this course will prepare individuals to effectively work and pass inspection in Arlington County.
